Svartsö Krog, Alsvik

With new ownership since this season 2008 Svartsö krog has become one of Stockholm's skerries top picks for eating together with Svartsö Herrgårdspensionat located on the same island. Both restaurants are located on beautiful Svarstö with lovely small roads excellent for a quiet bicycle ride, and why not a swim in one of the lakes if the sea is too cold?

The food at SvartsöKrog stems largely from the famous meat court at Willy Ohlssons Eftr in Östermalmshallen, Stockholm's most fashionable food market, and is accordingly focused on meat. You must try the "guldentrecote" an entrecote that is so tender that you barely have to chew it In addition, there are several courses (of which wew have only tested a few) that all come out as excellent according to family members of all ages. The wine list is not extensive but very well balanced.

Summary: terrific food and drink, but it comes at a price.
