Dykarbaren, Sandhamn
your comments review this restaurant
Dykarbaren is one of the first places seen when disembarking from the ferry, when arriving in Sandhamn. The building itself is tired and under maintained, and has an outside enclosed area where food is served.
Upon receiving a seat, one is offered one piece of bread, as tasteless as there can be, and a cube of smör. The menu is not vast but has enough choices to satisfy many for lunch.
I chose the burger and fries at 175 krona and my girlfriend the caesar salad at 149 krona. The burger arrived and was overcooked and in a stale toasted bun, The fires were ok as was the small slab of coleslaw and tomato salad. The burger was totally unacceptable and tasted like it looked, heavy and burnt.
The caesar salad was sloppily put together, a fillet of chicken sliced in three put across large leaves of lettuce and small tired croutons and a thick disgusting sauce.
I noticed that not one diner from the tables had finished their choices and plates were left half eaten, a sure sign that the food was of poor quality.
It was almost like the quality and standards were acceptable to this grotty little place and that they just took advantage of a captive audience. If a place operated like this in any town or city elsewhere, they would be closed down after a week.
