Sturehof

Sturehof is sublime, any architect will instantly fall in love with the interiors, the bar to the front is busy then through to dinner. I have eaten all over the world and this was certainly one of my best meals, salt cod with a mound of freshly grated horseradish, clean, simple and wonderfully elegant. Oysters were excellent. a very unique pomegranate chutney dabbed on local cheeses to finish, delicious. Wine from good to fabulous but nothing below. The bill for four of us was enormous but we drank and ate very well, (the evening of St. Cecilia), I have paid more for less. There is an uncanny feeling of Nordic/Russian Imperialism in this place, if you close your eyes and listen to bustle your are instantly whisked away to another time. This is an absolute must for the a quick weekend before Christmas, eat late so plenty of time to land, check in, freshen up and head over here. Not to be missed.

This is a top class sea food restaurant in the centre of Stockholm. The wine list is vast with a bottle of wine ranging from 300 - 5000SEK: thus the cheapest bottle of wine (which was very good) cost 300/13=£24.
The food was excellent with top quality fresh produce. Our choice was the easy one, with the set new years menu. This consisted of lobster soup, sea food platter (consisting of oysters, shrimp, crayfish, crab and a whole lobster (half per person)) and to finish a warm chocolate pudding. The price of 595SEK/person /13 = £46 was expensive but then again there was a lot of food. If you want a place that is something special then this is the place. The service is formal but the surroundings make it feel comfortable. The rather nice thing is that you can book a table there online, and very well in advance if required.
